Journal Entry 7 – The Values of Jesus

1. Define the term ‘beatitude’.

A beatitude is one of  statements spoken by Jesus to tell those who fit the words of the beatitude shall experience the Kingdom of Heaven.

2. Explain the purpose of the beatitudes.

The main purpose of the beatitudes is to inform the people that those who follows the way of God, shall receieve eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.3. Select ONE beatitude and describe how inspiring people of faith put into practice the teachings of Jesus. Use an example to support your answer.

Journal Entry 6 – Andrew John’s Vs Mother Theresa

1. What do you think the above image is about? Discuss.

Following from the picture above, Mother Theresa looks more like a caring person and someone who will put their heart into things. Andrew Johns according to me looks much more like a ‘Hobo’.

2. List FIVE personal qualities of Andrew Johns.

  • Good sports player
  • Motivator
  • Emotional
  • He is a winner
  • Never gives up

3. List FIVE personal qualities of Mother Theresa.

  • Has a great determination
  • Strong Willed

4. Discuss what you believe the difference is between inspiring people and inspiring people of faith.

The difference between an inspiring person and an inspiring person of faith is that an inspiring person just thinks for themselves rather then helping out people or people of a community. This is exactly like the comparison between Mother Theresa and Andrew Johns where Mother Theresa actually have helped out the poor and the sick. Andrew John has recently become a bad influence to children because of his intake of drugs.

Yes, this is becuase we are already finishing our group preamble draft, the cover letter and the research.

Everyone is fine up to now, no one is not pulling their weight.

Journal Entry 5 – Marist Charism

1. Define the word Charism.
Charisms are gifts and qualities given by God to individual people or groups for a good reason. 

2. Marcellin Champagnat outlined FIVE marist charisms that are identified within Marist schools. Describe THREE of these charisms.

  • A love of our work: enthusiasm towards the work of our school
  • Simplicity: “ease of relationships”
  • In the way of Mary: be like Mary, a good role model for marist teachers


3. Provide THREE examples of how you have seen these charisms evident within Parramatta Marist.

  • Teachers doing the best they can for us students
  • People making friends with new students
  • Teachers teaching us the qualities of a good student

4. List and describe TWO ways you believe we can create a better sense of ‘Marist Family’ within Parramatta Marist.

  • Offer help whenever or wherever needed
  •  Act respectively to whoever you talk to like Jesus

The Australian of the Year award is given to someone for various reasons like being a good role model.

The New Faculty Award Program is given to someone who is capable of producing “an independent body of scientific scholarship of outstanding quality.”

The Nobel Peace Prize is given to one of many people which has helped the world like making conflict resolutions etc. A process which will only leave one receiving the prize is used.

2. List as many characteristics as you can that are used to judge nominations for these awards. Remember some may not be easy to find you will have to work hard.

Journal Entry 3 – Inspiring People

1. Select ONE person who you consider to have inspired you and provide a short background of this person. My Mum

  • Taught me many things others can not

2. Discuss briefly why you consider them to be inspiring.

I consider her inspiring because she is the first person besides my dad that i have looked up to.

1. Why is it important to have regular group meetings?

This is so the group can have regular check-ups on how they are doing and discuss what they are going to do for the remaining period of the time.

2. Outline TWO other tools or strategies that can be used to assist group work.

  •  Internet research.
  •  Chatting system at home e.g. Msn Messenger.

3. Discuss THREE problems that you may face from working in your group.

  •  The work is incomplete but the work is due.
  •  A member of the group does not participate with the group in any way.
  •  Other issues which relate with a group member which might stop them from working.

Inspiring means to guide or control by divine influence.

2. List THREE or more characteristics that you think would be found in inspiring people.
