Journal Entry 5 – Marist Charism
1. Define the word Charism.
Charisms are gifts and qualities given by God to individual people or groups for a good reason.
2. Marcellin Champagnat outlined FIVE marist charisms that are identified within Marist schools. Describe THREE of these charisms.
- A love of our work: enthusiasm towards the work of our school
- Simplicity: “ease of relationships”
- In the way of Mary: be like Mary, a good role model for marist teachers
3. Provide THREE examples of how you have seen these charisms evident within Parramatta Marist.
- Teachers doing the best they can for us students
- People making friends with new students
- Teachers teaching us the qualities of a good student
4. List and describe TWO ways you believe we can create a better sense of ‘Marist Family’ within Parramatta Marist.
- Offer help whenever or wherever needed
- Act respectively to whoever you talk to like Jesus
